Update: We had a fabulous book launch at the Lost and Found, an iconic building in the center of Knutsford. This building features in our book, look carefully at the page with the window cleaner! Thank you to the staff and of course all the friends, family and new fans who turned up in November to help launch Leo’s Ladder. We are grateful. Please look at my Blog for the newest information! We now have activity pages to download for free.

I go to bed early but I wake up groggy because I stay up far too late reading. I’m currently reading Jo Nesbo books I pick up at the local library or download onto my tablet. From a young age, I have always loved detective stories and thrillers. In fact, I should have named my daughter Agatha: my son has Mr. Fleming’s first name. Growing up in suburban USA, I had a huge choice of books but then gravitated towards Bond, James Bond and eventually, all the way to rural Britain.
Small town living suits me. I live in the north of England and enjoy travelling to see family and friends. To pass time I like making up stories that will entertain children.
I had a fulfilling career as a nursery school teacher and special needs reading tutor. In my three decades of experience, both in the USA and here in Britain, I have found that children, no matter what their cultural background, love a good story and colorful illustrations. Leo’s Ladder is one of those stories.
Writing
Leo’s Ladder is about a boy who is looking to return a ladder to its rightful owner, although he would rather keep it for himself. Will he find the owner?
Illustrations are by artist Ali Holah who specializes in painting and bespoke prints.
Ali and I met through friends and immediately struck up a friendship. We enjoyed working together on Leo’s Ladder and look forward to continuing the series. Her designs are warm, whimsical and dreamy, giving each page a timeless quality.
The beauty of Knutsford shines through in the gorgeous illustrations. I am very lucky to live in such a vibrant town, and to have met such a talented illustrator.
